Tips for Wool Area Rug Cleaning

Area rugs are a wonderful addition to any home, but like other floor items, these carpets get dirt, dust, and sometimes spill. Drying your carpet will often eliminate a lot of dirt and dust that is missing from your wool carpet. Doing so will extend to a good appearance and the overall age of your rug.

Do not use powder cleaners on the rug when vacuuming because it will cause the fibers to fuse and eventually damage the rug. For some rug binding services, you might be able to raise the shaker in a vacuum to be easy to clean.

When vacuuming your carpet, there are a number of things you need to check to make sure the cleaning of the wool carpet is done properly. Check to see if the shaker blades rotate when on the carpet and do not slow down due to too much contact.

It must vibrate lightly and not cause the motor to slow down or create tension on the carpet or vacuum. Make sure the bag is clean enough or replace it every time you clean it. Sucking dust will remove most of the dirt from your carpet, but not all.

There are many methods for professional carpet cleaning and each may or may not suit your carpet. Dry cleaning is a method that uses dry foam or other chemicals that attract dirt from the rug. After the appropriate time has passed, dirt and substance are sucked from the carpet. Steam cleaning should always be done by a professional carpet cleaning service.
